1 Configure Network

Set the host name in the Network

[root@localhost ~] # vi /etc/sysconfig/network

In vi editor, enter the below values as is.

NETWORKING=YES

HOSTNAME=panora.com

2 Set IP Address

If the IP address is not set then in Linux Terminal, type the below command and set the IP address and subnet mask only. Then restart the network.

[root@hostname ~]# netconfig

Restart (Stop or Start) the network once setting the IP address.

[root@hostname ~]# /etc/init.d/network start

[root@hostname ~]# /etc/init.d/network stop

3 Check for the ipaddress:

root@hostname ~]# ifconfig

 

To set the other hosts in the Linux machine:

[root@hostname~]#vi /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost

192.168.1.2 panora.com panora

4 Configure Security Limits

Refer the ‘prerequisites’ document and set the security limits for Linux

In Linux Terminal, type the below script

[root@hostname ~]# vi /etc/security/limits.conf

Enter the below security limits that are given in the prerequisites in the ‘vi’ editor and save.

hard nofile 65535

soft nofile 4096

hard nproc 16384

soft nproc 2047

save the file :wq!

 

5 Set Kernel Parameters

Check the prerequisites and enter the kernel parameter values for Linux.

[root@hostname ~]# vi /etc/sysctl.conf

[root@hostname ~]# vi sysctl –p

Kernel Parameters:

kernel.core_uses_pid = 1

kernel.shmmax=2147483648

kernel.shmmin=4096

kernel.shmall=2097152

kernel.sem=256 32000 100 142

fs.file-max=65536

net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range=1024 65000

net.core.rmem_default=262144

net.core.rmem_max=262144

net.core.wmem_default=261244

net.core.wmem_max=26144

6 Check the RPM’s

Check the RPMs in Linux with the RPMs in the prerequisites document.

To check RPMs [root@hostname~]# rpm –qa | grep package name

Example: [root@hostname~]# rpm –qa | grep abc123*

To install missing packages

[root@hostname ~]# rpm –ivh package name

7. Create Group and users

Create users oracle and applmgr with dba group

Oracle User: [root@hostname~]#adduser oracle –g dba

Apps User: [root@hostname~]#adduser applmgr –g dba

Give permission and ownership:

[root@hostname~]#chown –Rf oracle:dba /d01/oracle

[root@hostname~]# chmod 777 /d01/oracle

8. Install Oracle Apps using Rapidwiz

Open Linux terminal, go to the sub directory rapidwiz and execute the file ‘rapidwiz’

[root@hostname~]#cd /d01/oracle/startCD/Disk1/rapidwiz

[root@hostname rapidwiz]# ./rapidwiz

‘Wizard Operation’ screen will be displayed. Select ‘Install Oracle Applications Release 12’ option.

Leave ‘Use Express Install’ checkbox unchecked. Then click ‘Next’

 

‘Configuration Choice’ screen will be displayed. Select ‘ No’ option and click next

 

Choose the installation type. Single node or multimode

Choose the database type need to be installed `Vision’ or `Demo’. Give a database name

 

In the next screen, enter username, group name and base directory location.

Enter the application node configuration details. Click next

Enter the domain name, Display and choose port pool. Click next

Save the instance configuration file in a particular location. Click next

 

Pre install System-check will be done and can proceed further only if all the checks are passed.

 

Pre install system checks are passed here. If there is any failure, resolve it. And click next

Like precheck, post install checks are also done by the wizard. If any check is failed,it has to be resolved to make the installation successful.

 

Login using the Url:/http:panora.com:8000

Enter the username and password to access the application
